MABUHAY! MANILA!
WORKSHOP AT THE TOP!
August 21, 2011 was a day when the six music ministry heads of the South Metro Manila Region and their members assembled to attend a PSALMODY WORKSHOP at Villamor Golf Club, Pasay City. This workshop served as a prelude for the coming music practices for the BCBP 32nd National Anniversary Celebration (NAC32) to be held on April 13-14, 2012 at SMX Convention Center. “PSALMODY” is a term formed with the combination of the words Psalm and Melody to give a unique distinction to BCBP’s songs and praises. The Psalmody team of Las Pinas was the lead group in conducting this workshop hosted by Bro. Ruel Saniel, Formation Director of Las Pinas Chapter, which was attended by 113 people. This was the first of its kind when the chapters – Manila, Pasay, Makati, Paranaque, Las Pinas & Alabang, joined their voices in chorus to ensure that music and harmony are achieved during the forthcoming big event.
Since music is conjunctive to worship, the whole-day affair included a spirit-filled worship led by Bro. Etchin Sumagang, Las Pinas’ former Chapter Head and NAC32 Executive Director Cluster A on Programs and Fellowship. This was followed by an informative talk on worship by Bro. Jojo Pabalan. To enliven the proceeding, some fun game was hosted by music teacher, Sis. Boots Carballo. Complementing the talks was Bro. Jun Sedurifa of Pasay Chapter who gave some tips on vocalization. The coup de grace was delivered by Bro. Weng Carballo, NAC32 Music Committee Head, as he outlined the importance of music ministry in the community and the roles of its members as he drew commitments from the people who will eventually form the music ministry for the 32nd National Anniversary grand celebration next year.
As music interest gaining ground, other chapters of Imus and San Pablo, Calamba, Binan, have joined together with their RCD, Joffe Almoro, in order not to miss this music learning opportunity. To make the day more meaningful and blessed, it was culminated by a mass celebrated by Fr. Rene Ramirez, a Rogationist, who gave a fitting homily being a music enthusiast himself.
With spirit aglow and overflowing confidence, Bro. Jun Obra, NAC32 Chairman and RCD of South Metro Manila Region, together with his Sis. Wife, Mina Obra, with their presence, could not hide their satisfaction and the gratefulness to the Lord that something of this kind is happening this early for the region who will take the weight of hosting the 32nd National Anniversary. Since this was Sunday and it was a whole day affair, this have not been a major issue after all as people left the venue with gladness in their hearts that they spent the day worthy, united in spirit and committed to take up the challenge in one voice.
See Ya! In Manila!
